well well last week I heard in the news that Marcelito ebrard had come up with the brilliant idea of changing the shell that is normally shown in the palacio nacional building. And he decided to put this new symbol, which was used by Juarez.

No no no mexico is magical in deed.

Let´see what happens next september 15th ( the first time calderon will be in this ceremony).

And on top of it there is an advertisment that says: Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador; legitimate president of Mexico.

... I think that there is much more freedom to express now than in the past, and the good thing from all the things that Marcelito Ebrard has done against Calderon is that Calderon wont be able to steal as much money as he could if Marcelito wouldn´t be around.

What i want to point out is that I am not in favor of marcelo Ebrard, no not at all, I am being sarcastic when I say Marcelito.

But well, I insist, let´see what happens next independence day.

....after seeing frida´s exposition My mom and I were quite hungry and we had previously decided to eat at el barrio hino, we had no idea where it was.... we were lucky beause it is near Palaio de Bellas Artes; it´s on Dolores street. The history of the barrio starts in the 50´s when Emilio hau´s opened the first restaurant there, and then little by little a few more hinese set their bussiness on the same plae, and it beame the small barrio we know now. We had a big plate (as always happends) of hinese food....

Frida Kahlo at bellas artes

today I went to see Frida kahlo´s exposition at bellas artes; it was quite interesting I liked every single thing I saw there. I guess the section of caligraphy is the one that best reflects Frida´s personality because there are letters written by her that were sent to her loved husband; Diego Rivera, her doctor and her brother. From these letters I was able to feel Frida´s simplicity and strength. She used to write in a very simple way, not because she didn´t know how to write appropiatly but, just because she was a simple woman who didn´t like luxury.

I wont talk about her life in this post, I already know enought about it, but what I do wanna say is that with this impressive exposition I discovered some things I didnt know about her, because many things were not shown before, (not even in the blue house).

Well, well I am quite happy to say that I went to Guadalajara, because the conajum (Congreso Nacional Juvenil de Misiones) took place there, and here you are some of the pictures of the places I saw there.

I obvously went downtown and the very fist thing I want to say related to this place is that it is perfectly CLEAN, there is not garbage at all, what makes the city look much more beautiful, and there are not street vendors either.

The weather was nice, well I was there for 3 days and it rained cats and dogs (the last day, day of the pilgrimage by the way) it was also warm and a little cloudy as well.

I also had the traditional meal; Tortas ahogadas (this meal is made with a bolillo called birote, and it has pork and onion, full of broth) they were really tasty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

It was a super short but illustrative walk in downtown. It was short because it lasted less than one hour, but it was illustrative because Lila (the girl in charge of us, who is studing History) told us briefly some legends, stories, anecdote,of the history of this beautiful city.

We saw the cathedral, the Degollado teather witch was constructed in the times of the civil war, a fountain located in the exact place where Guadalajara was officially declared independent, by the way in this fountain acording to Lila there is a woman named Beatriz who is carring a rooster in her arms and this woman was important in the process of independece (I don´t remember exactly what she did :(

There is also a legend that says that when Miguel Hidalgo I. Costilla declared the end of slavery he gave a shoot to the clock that is in the goverment palace in the plaza de las armas, and that was when we noticed the shot.

The flag of this ciy has two big lions and a tree in the midle as the symbol. And all these buildings and statues are located in downtown very near one from the other.

In general I can say that women and men are pretty and hadsome respectivly, They are tall and thin.

...I honestly fell in love with Guadalajara. It was pretty nice, clean and its people were polite and nice.

two weeks ago my uncle, aunt and cousins visisted us, because they were on vacations. And they gently brought us many delicious mangoes.

I just want you to notice the size of these two mangoes. The two of them were quite tasty, specially the big one. The pill was very skinny, the rest was the fruit in deed.

since last vacations, the governor of the distrito federal; Marcelo Ebrard had the idea of improvising some beaches in the city.

since many families can not afford a trip to the beach, now they dont need to go to a beach to spend some nice time relaxing, swimming or making sand castles. Now they can enjoy all these activities in the city. In all the public sport clubs there are these artificial beaches waiting for the mexican families to have a great time there.

.... As a matter of fact, I don´t see this as nut as many people. I mean i would not go there, Why not??? Because to me, this is the same as a beach resort, and i have never liked them, but I do agree that this is an opportunity for many families to spend a nice time, because they dont have the money to afford it in a real one.

Yet I want to point out that this is not the best solution to let people have a nice time. Something that would be a real opportunity for the mexican families to enjoy from a nice vacation, would be to reduce the cost of the booth, the gas, etc.

........ooh by the way this improvised beach is just in front of my UAM. ( in the public sport club Reynosa).

this dog is the official pet of UAM-Azcapo.He is always running, In fact this was the first time I saw him taking it easy. He is more beautiful than what you can see here. He always has a ball, or a bottle and he asks you to throw it away so that he can go for it.

this is my favorite fruit; mango. As far as I know fruit is more than a simple food, a privilege in other countries. For example in Japan a pretty nice present is fruit. fruit is decorated in beautiful containers ready to be bought and be given as a very well seen gift. This is because fruit is just quite expensive in that country. And some fruit is a privilege for the fewest who have the facility to afford it.

That´s why this post is dedicated to my beautiful country: Mexico and the big diversity of fruit that is grown over here.

Fruit thanks God is not yet a privilege but a pleasure.

Thanks to my country which is an apropiate land to grow the most delicious kind of fruit i have ever tasted, and of course thanks to all this fruit

well anyway I am happy to say that there was not strike, because it is almost the end of the trimester. Otherwise it would have affected everybody´s assigments, rhythm, concentration, etc etc.

Last week was the week of Germany, many activities were organized. On monday we had the Oktoberfest at La Plaza roja, small pieces of traditional german food were served, such as thick sausages, potatoes with cream and meatballs, and for drink???....... Beer of course¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ Before going on with the description of this exiting week, I want to give a brief description of the Oktoberfest:

(The first Oktoberfest took place oktober 12Th 1810. it was held to celebrate the mariage of the prince Ludwing and Princess Therese, and for this celebration there was a horse race. there have been some interruptions of the oktoberfest due to Wars, deseases, and epidemies but germans have always tried to keep this custom, and now a days this festival is known around the world and every time people from the nost distant places of the world attend to this celebration, where beer is the principal beverage that is drunk).

Well well continuing with the German-week-at-uam there was also a small kid wearing the traditional clothes worn for the festival, that consists on a small pair of pants, a small hat where they put pins from the places they have been. and a white shirt.

I do not remeber the exact activities for each day, but we had also a visit from two people from the german embassy who gave us information about studing a master or a ph degree in germany.....

Wow this was a super exiting week, I hope to have many more illustrative weeks like this one.

el chopo

This time I wanna talk about the famous street market: El chopo. I dont know much about this place; I had heard about it, but I had never been there....until today.

I went with some of my friends from the uni, we interviewed some people we found there, some of them were very nice and polite, but some others were not.

With the information we got, from the people we interviewed, now I know that this place has existed since 1980, in the begining it was located in the museum el chopo,where books and music were sold and the only people who used to go there were gothic. Now a days things have changed and ABSOLUTELY ALL ALL ALL KIND OF PEOPLE can be seen there. No mather their ideology, no mather how extremely different they are among each other, all of them interact together. I would dare to say that tolerance is the most practiced value there.

Here I leave a picture of a gothic woman and her little daughter, they were accompanied by the husband, but he did not give any information.... Notice that the little girl is dressed as her mom...her boots were cute.

It was a nice experience going there.

This time I want to show a picture from London. I guess this (the big ben) was the touristic place i wanted to see the most.
I remember that I took the undergroung ( the red line, route 12) and I got off the station Westminster and there it was just right in front of me, it was the very first thing I saw: THE BIG BEN... amazing¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
I took pictures from all the possible angles, and suddenly this pigeon passed and stayed there for a few seconds. As if she were posing for the picture.
In fact this is one of my favorite pictures form that trip.

mother´s day

today (thursday 10th 2007) is mother´s day in mexico.
There are many things that are done in order to celebrate this day, but the most common one is to invite mothers to eat at a luxurous restaurant.
Restaurants are crowed this day!!!!!!!!!.
common gifts such as clothes, jewerly, make up, flowers, etc. are given this day.
this month is the month of the holidays; in five more days there is another one.

children´s day

In méxico children´s day is celebrated on april 30th. Now a days there have been some changes in the way children are celebrated.
I remember that when a was a child. A small party was given at school, and this party was small, in the sense that it used to be very very simple. We just had some snacks, in the classroom. And nothing else.
Now a days, children are taken to parks, malls, etc. And they are given toys.... From the changes in the celebration, I guess this thing of giving toys to children is the one that most calls my atenttion. Because there is already a day when children recieve toys; that´s on January 6th (epiphany day), and this custom is quite important, because children really hope to be given the toy they are asking for.
Now on children´s day, with this added custom:

not only toys, but also things such as cell phones are demanded by children.
parents, have an extra preocupation, on this day.

alejandro sanz

well well. Last wednesday I went to see alejandro sanz´concert at auditorio nacional. About 12 dates were opened on this current tour: EL TREN DE LOS MOMENTOS.
And precisely on the date I went, he was sick (wednesday 25, 2007). I read on the news that he was kind of dizzy and did not feel well.
I noticed things were not going well, when by the end of a song (la fuerza del corazón) he left, and his musicians went on playing for about 5 or 6 minutes, and he didn´t get back. Then before the next song started, his musician said that Alejandro was not feeling well, but he would continue with the show any way. Then they put a chair and a guitar in front of it, and that was when Sanz came back, he apologized and started playing a buleria, and then many more songs.
On his last song: No es lo mismo, he just left without saying good bye, or anything else¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡.
I mean I do understand he was sick, and couldn´t do his best. ( as he always does, when is healthy) but the only thing I felt dissapointed of, was the fact that he just left, and said nothing¡¡¡¡¡. His musician had to take over No es lo mismo.....

working, when you are sick, is just horrible. I guess he felt doubly sick.
1 because he was already ill
2 because he had to leave his show in that condition.
Some people understood it and some others did not. I guess everyone is right on his arguments.

well, well. I have just heard that the possible strike was at last only a rumor. The trade unionist accepted 3.5%.

Every single year since I started classes, there have been situations like this one, but this time people thought it could be a reality.

last friday, when I got home, this was the surprise I found.
I walked into the kitchen and I saw thousands of pieces of glass lying on the floor, but what really called my attention was this white-brown thing that surrounds the oven that works as a protector.
The first thing I thought was that my mom had used the oven to bake something, and she had forgotten to turn it off. It didn´t happen that way.
My mom was mopping the floor and she hit it, of course by accident, with the broom, and it came towards her, it hardly hit and got broken in small pieces.
... And Now this is the way the stove looks.... very modern look, isn´t it????????????

Babel got the nomination for the best drama movie.
Babel was directed by A. González Iñarritu.
stared by Gael Garcia, Adriana Barraza, Brad Pitt, Riku etc etc.
Some people were apathetic with the idea of this last movie from the trilogy of González Iñarritu. I even heard comments such as "it is equal to Amores Perros; three different stories that by the end of the movie are related" and some more comments of this kind.
I personally liked the movie. My favorite story was firstly: The one that shows the mexican story. secondly the american one and lastly the japanese one.
and talking about the trilogy this was my preference:

I like my feet, I have no problem with them.
I guess I am happy with them because they take me wherever I want and need to go, they are normally protected with sneakers. They complain when I make them wear uncomfortable shoes; such as high heels or boots.

the angel of independence

This is the famous angel of independence in Mexico, located on paseo de la reforma. It was constructed by the arquitect Antonio Rivas Mercado; who built the Teatro Juarez in Guanajuato, as well.

This monument was made in order to honor the begineers and later heroes of our independence. Such as Miguel Hidalgo I. Costilla, Vicente Guerrero and Ignacio Allende. On The base of this monument there are some statues that represent peace, law, justice and war.

It was inagurated on september 16th 1910, so as to celebrate the centenary of the mexican independence. Many people attended this special happening.

This monument is (toguether with the zocalo) an important place where people gather either for protesting or celebrate national facts of relevance.

The last picture represents with a cow this important monument.

There was a cow parade on Reforma street, The cows were sponsored by many different companies, and they came up with idea of a cow representing the angel of independence.

The three wise men day

Tonight the three wise men come to leave the presents for the children who behaved well during the year.
The most common and traditional way to ask the wise men presents is with a letter; children leave a letter (normally near the x-mas tree) and they specify the toys they want.
Some food can be left such as: milk, cookies, water, fruit, etc, for the weary wise men due to the huge journey.
Marketing has no limits at all: Now a days another way to let the wise men know children's desires is through a letter that is kept in a balloon. I took this picture on Reforma street, there are street vendors selling decorated balloons for this special holiday.

Yeah, it is creative in deed, because of the holes that let the five fingers be free.

you don´t need to take them off in case you need to write, draw, type etc etc. and your hand gets really warm.

last saturday 16th I went to a party, We had spaguetty, pork, cake, and apple salad for dinner.
I challenged myself; I offered myself to bring the spaguetty, for about 40 people.

I asked in total 3 different ladies to tell me how to cook it... In the end I made it the way my friend pau showed me.... yes the day before I went to her place so as to see how to cook a delicious spaguetty.

And this was the way my spaguetty ended up..... I was not very happy with the result, because it was a little tasteless, and it had a lot of cream, but besides that, the rest was O.K. I mean; taking into cosideration that it was the first time I made spaguetty, and it was for 40 people... I guess it was fine, just fine.

Flor de nochebuena

in the previous post I showed My favorite flower: Lyly, but this time I wanna talk about another beautiful flower that comes from Mexico: The Flor de nochebuena, or flor de pascua. This flower is seen in the months of november december and the last ones in january. There is a legend about it that states the story of a poor girl who was crying because she did not have anything to give to Jesus baby, then an angel appeared on her way and told her to collect some plants, and bring them to church. When she put them in the church as a gift for jesus christ baby the plants turned into the beautiful flower currently known as Nochebuena.

In Nahuatl this flower is called: Cuetlaxochitl. For the aztecs this flower symbolized the blood spilled in honor the gods.

In english this flower is called: Poinsettia. In honor to Joel Roberts Poinsett. He was the first american embassador in Mexico in 1825, he was inmediatly captured by the beauty of this flower, and introduced it to his country and Europe, as the poinsettia.

Its scientific name is: Euphorbia pulcherrima that means "the most beautiful".....

If you are kind of lost, because of many things you have on your mind, and you do not know the month you are currently in. Do not worry, everywhere you go will remind you it is christmas time. This is the way the majority of the houses look like at x-mas; they are decorated with lights called waterfalls. It feels nice to walk on any street and look at the bright lights that are located in the facade of the houses. I remeber that when I was I child houses were not decorated like this. The only symbol to represent x-mas used to be the popular Christmas tree, either green or white, together with the nativity scene; as shown in the picture above......
Time doesn´t stand still, let´s see in some more years the new fashion imposed by our capitalist system for x-mas season.

I went to Puebla, three or four months ago. Puebla is located about two hours away from Mexico city, its capital is Puebla (its name is shared to the state and the city) Iwent to downtown so as to take some pictures of the most traditional, touristic, distinguished places/things in Puebla.
Puebla is officially known as La heroica Puebla de Zaragoza. Its name comes from the battle against the french army. The mexican general Ignacio Zaragoza leaded this battle and succesfully won it.
Talavera is handycraft very popular from Puebla. The origen of the talavera currently made in Puebla comes from Talavera de la reina Spain. There are different styles: Arabic, Italian, Spanish, Chinese and of course Mexican.
The Cathedral Of Puebla was built by the architect Francisco Berrera, it was completed in 1690
The red double decker bus (turibus) is equal to the one I showed in the Auditorio Nacional post, the difference is that this one depicts specific things from puebla, such as Mole, Talavera, etc.
... I wanted to take a picture of a taxi, in order to show its colors (black and yellow, as the ones in new York.... as far as I know) and a better idea came to my mind: I pictured a volkswagen ( better known as Vocho) And I did so, because the last beetle was made in the volkswagen Plant in Puebla in July 30th 2003.

hehehehe. This time I did have the time to post the corresponding month in time.
December is I guess a nice month for many people, due to its celebrations.... so let´s star talking about them:
to beging with, december is a month that gives a space to remind people about important facts such as AIDS, and human rights.
december 1st: AIDS day,
december 5th: Sinterklaas in the Netherlands; Wow wow wow, It was a quite good idea writing about the important dates in every single month, because I have learnt some things that I completly ignored.
Saint Nicholas is the closest thing to Sinterklaas, (according to what I read in the wikipedia). Sinterklass brings presents to children who behaved well during the year. He arrives from Spain in a steamer, he is welcomed by many children who sing some Sinterklaas' songs, and at the same time his assistant; Swarte pieten, throws some candy and ginger bread to all the content children.
december 6th: Independence day in Finland.
december 7th: Pearl Harbor day.
december 8th: mother´s day in Panama.
december 12th: Day of the virgen of Guadalupe in Mexico; a national celebration.
december 15th: Zamenhof Day; he is the initator of the speranto language. Speranto means:"one who hopes", it´s a language that was developed by this guy; Zamenhof had the intention to create a universal language that could be spoken in order to foster peace and international understanding.
december 24th: Christmas eve
december 25th: Christmas
december 31st: New year´s eve.

November 20th is a national holiday in Mexico, we celebrate our revolution. that lasted ten years¡¡¡¡ from 1910 to 1920. This revolution was mainly against the dictactor Porfirio Díaz. thousands of people were involved in this war; children, women, men.

yesterday (november 20th 2006) something ------------ (I do not know what adjective to use) happened. Lopez Obrador proclaimed himself as the legal president of mexico. This event took place in el zócalo, mexico city.

....as a matter of fact, when I took the picture, I focused on the beautiful mexican flag, which is located in my uni (UAM) just right in front of the library (COSEI) .
then I saw the hill behind the flag: It is El cerro del Chiquihuite, located in the north of the city, surronding Gustavo I. Madero and Tlalnepantla, estado de México.
This hill is oficially known as El cerro del Chiquihuite, but it is also known as the hill of the antenna, because there are antennas from t.v. and radio. that broadcast their signs to all over the valley of Mexico. There are neighborhoods on the slope of the hill: Candelaria, Ticoman, San Juan y guadalupe; they are obviously always in risk because of possible landslide.

Tepotzotlan and its offerings

well, well. At last I found the time to upload these pictures of the offering that is yearly set in Tepotzotlan cathedral´s atrium.
Tepotzotlan is a beautiful town located in the north of the city, near the México-Querétaro expressway. Its cathedral is quite beautiful; it is almost completly decorated with gold on its ceiling, and walls. Next to the cathedral there is also a museum, that shows some pictures.
Tepotzotlan is an excellent place to spend some time together with the family, boyfriend, friends, etc, on weekends, specially on sunday´s mornings. There is a big street market where people can eat: carnitas, birria, pancita, all kind of tacos, pozole, quesadillas, sopes, pambazos, enchiladas, etc, etc, etc.
There is a tradition that began on 1996; The offering of Tepotzotlan is becoming, every time more and more famous. It is set and organized by volunteers (mostly teens), who study at different schools near the town. It is set for the mexican celebration; día de muertos (day of the dead)
This big offering has all the essencial things a proper offering must have:
Water, incense, marigold (flower of the dead), candles, peanuts, photographs of the death, mole, alcohol, pan de muerto (bread of the dead), decorated skulls, fruit such as: orange, pumpkin, reed, apples, guava, etc.
My favorite picture is the one of the couple, where the "guy" is hugging his "girlfriend" He is wearing a hat, and she is wearing a beautiful skirt and a chal.... Isn´t it cute???

last month (October 22nd) I was leaving school.... and suddenly I saw this car across the street from my uni....
The first thing I thought was that it had been "decorated" like that, because of the comming holidays:
*October 31st Halloween
*November 1st All souls day
*November 2nd death day.
and after a few more days, I found two more cars like this one. And one of them was being driven ¡¡¡¡¡¡ 0_O ¡¡¡¡¡¡
I still do not know why they were like that, and I havent seen more cars like that..... If you happen to know anything related to them, tell me its meaning... I am corious about it.

Auditorio Nacional

Auditorio Nacional, is the most important place for concerts in Mexico city. It was firstly opened in 1952 with the name: Auditorio Municipal, but later on it was changed for Auditorio Nacional.
Quite famous artists, singers, bands, orchestras, dancing companies, etc, ect have been shown here.
Here I show a few pictures of this magnificent place. in one of the pictures there is a red turibus, just right in front of the Auditorio. This bus is normally taken by the tourists who are taken to the most touristic places in Mexico City.
I have been in Auditorio some times. My first time there, was a Rocio Durcal´s concert ( a Spanish singer) it was my birthday. and then I have seen a few more singers such as: Sting (English singer... I guess), La ley ( a Chilean band) and Alejandro Sanz (Spanish singer)

pumpkin is a fruit that was firstly prepared in candy, cakes, and stew in Mesoamerica. it is currently eaten in Latin America, Philippines and the Caribean.
This recipe followed in the next pictures is from my great grand mother. I personally don´t like it very much, but it is o.k. It is eaten by the end of the year: November, december.
Something that once again surprised me was its price, my grandma told me it had costed only $10.oo pesos o_0 ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡. I used to think they were a bit more expensive, because of its size, but I was told that the most expensive one is about $25.00, $30.00 pesos, no more than that. In the pictures I show the ingredients: The pumpkin, cinammon, water and piloncillo ( this last one works as sugar).
and the steps that need to be followed in order to prepare it. Since it was quite big, it is enought with only a half, then from the falf you get some small pieces and put them in the pot, together with the other ingredients ( a cup of water, cinammon and three pieces of piloncillo)
In the last picture I show the pumpkin ready to be eaten, with some milk. It can be eaten by itself or with milk. My favorite part of this sweet is the seeds. They taste good.

this picture shows the trash collectors that are located EVERYWHERE around UAM-A.
As far as I know, the idea of placing together two different trash collectors, distinguished by their color (red and white), came from students and/or teachers of the ambiental engineering.
* The white one collects disposable things.
*The red one collects all the rest.

despite the fact there are thousands of these collectors in the uni, there is sometimes trash on the ground....
that´s quite frustating, annoying and sad.

let´s keep fingers crossed in order to see the day when people understand the usage of these collectors.

eating breakfast, lunch or dinner is one of the privileges of being a UAM student.
Prices like these are seen nowhere, and on top of this I can say that the flavor is o.k. I mean it is not the tasties food in the world but it isn´t that bad either...
Here I show you a picture of last monday´s menu. There are also three coins; ($2.50) mexican pesos. Its price¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ o_0 This very same menu costs about $28.00 or 30.00 pesos at an inn. This is why many students and workers find attractive eating at the cafeteria.
...There are of course some inconviniences about all this:
* For breakfast it is always the same menu: eggs, cereal, hot cakes, and sopes (mexican appetizers).
* If you want to have lunch here you have to queue for a looooooonng looooooooong time.
* Sometimes the table setting is still dirty.
* It is always crowed

mmmmhhhh what else???? nothing else comes to my mind.
If you are a uam student who hasn´t enjoy the services, do not be fool, take advantage of the many services given there. If you are not a uam student, mmmhhh you are invited to go as well.

Festival cervantino 2006

Today was the closing ceremony of the cervantino international festival (FIC) 2006. This year was the turn of the United Kingdom as the guest country of honor. The closing event was in charge of Akram Kham (dance) and the Royal Court (theatre).
This festival took first place in 1972 in Guanajuato City (Mexico) It is the most important cultural festival in mexico. It is organized by: CONACULTA, INBA, THE UNIVERSITY OF GUANAJUATO, amoung others.
These were the countries -as well as mexico´s states -guests for the draft 2001-2006:
2001: *Australia guest country of honor *Veracruz guest state of honor.
2002: *Canada guest country of honor *Tamaulipas guest state of honor.
2003: *Germany and France guest countries of honor *Michoacán guest state of honor.
2004: *Sudafrica guest country of honor *Baja California guest state of honor.

2006: * United Kigdom guest country of honor.
... This is an experience I haven´t YET lived . Last friday when I was arriving in my Uni, the first thing I saw, were two big busses, ready to go to the festival. The Uni was almost empty, specially after 13:00 hours; everybody was going to Guanajuato, bringing fulled back packs, ready to "go camping". As far as I know this is what happens; since hotels, hostals and rooms are booked weeks or moths before the festival, teens just camp on the streets, near churches, theaters, parks, alleys...everywhere. It is said that the festival itself is just an excuse, the main point is to hang out with your friends and strangers that after some beers become even better friends
0_0. and of course have a nice time. No matter if you do not have the chance to see any of the cultural events held.
Students, teachers, artists, people from Guanajuato, get a 50% discount in all tickets for any event.

My favorite singer, and ex-boyfriend; Alejandro Sanz has a new cd; the tenth in his carrer; its name is "El tren de los momentos" something like "The train of the moments" in english. The first single is: "A la primera persona" ( To the first person) released last september 25th. The cd will be released next november 7th 2006, all over the world.
"El tren de los momentos" was recorded in México, Miami, Bahamas and Madrid by the sound engineer Tom Russo, who has worked with Audioslave, Macy Gray, Michael Jackson etc.
Singers like Shakira, Antonio Carmona, Juanes etc, were invited to colaborate in some of the songs, as well as his daughter MANUELa (a five year old girl).... amazing, isn´t it???and finally the best news: his new tour will start next year (2007) in America and then in Europe. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IN ALL OF HIS TOURS, I GO AS OFTEN AS I CAN, BUT THIS TIME I WANNA GO WITH ANYONE WHO WANTS TO JOIN ME: CARMINA, ALE, MARIO, LA COMADRE, MATA, LILI, PAU. This is a Joaquin Sabina´s song. I have heard it just once; it was in a spanish t.v. program called Septimo de caballeria, whose t.v. presenter used to be Miguel Bosé. It was a special episode; dedicated to mi ex-boyfriend Alejandro Sanz...

Well, well, this time I want to show the logos that have been created in order to celebrate the anniversaries of my University. ( so sorry for putting them in disorder) But anyway it is easy to notice the logo that corresponds to each anniversary.
The first one (the 10th anniversary) is the second image shown. As you can see, there isn´t much to say about it, it is kind of simple.
The second one ( the 15th anniversary) is the third image shown. It was shown in the ceremony of the Metropolitan gallery. On May 1989.
The third one ( The 20th anniversary) is the first image shown. Eduardo Espinoza was the creator of the logo and Alfonso rangel created the motto. The president of the university was Julio Rubio Oca.
The forth one ( The 25th anniversary) is the forth image shown. The motto was created by Jorge Argaiz, and the logo was created by hernan García and Daniel Bobadilla ( uam-xochimilco students) . The president was Jose Luis Gazquez Mateos.
The Fith one ( The 30th anniversary) is the fith image shown. The motto was created by Areli García ( uam-xochimilco student) and the logo was created by Jonathan Carbajal (uam-azcapotzalco student). The president was Luis Mier y Teran Casanova.

This is my currently favorite t.v. show. I discovered it last June; I was at Zulmita´s and Tanita´s place ( my cousins). We were in their room, playing with their dolls while the t.v. was on. We weren´t really watching it, we were just hearing.

The next time I saw it was here in my place, (on channel 11, from 4.30 to 5.00) and I remembered the episode I saw with my cousins.

Since then it has become my favorite T.V. show, because it is great, quite fun, interesting, etc.

It is supposedly a news program stared by puppets. There are different sections; presented by different characters such as:

Juan Carlos Bodoque ( a journalist that shows educational videos that have to do with the ambient)

Juanín ( the producer of the news program) He is known for his particular shout: "Tulio we are on"

Policarpo Avendaño: ( the entertainment presenter) He shows the super famous ranking top top top. Many musical videos, quite nice, are shown in his section. My favorite song is: "Bailen sin Cesar"

Calcetin con rombos man: (The hero of the children) He appears when there is a difficult situation to solve. And he normally tells children their rights.

Mico el micofono: He is in charge of the surveys. There are different subjects

and finally Tulio Treviño: ( the leader ) He is kind of poshy, and selfish, but in the end he is nice.

This show is Chilean, its first episode was shown in 2003. It was created by a couple of Chilean gays. Since not only children but also adults enjoyed it alot, there have been 4 seasons (2003-2006)

I recommend it. It makes me laught a lot, and I have also learnt some things from Juan Carlos Bodoque´s section.

This is what Vicente Fox (President of my lovely country; Mexico) said last September 15th at about 11:10 pm. This time the event was not celebrated in el Zócalo Capitalino (as usual every year) It was in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato; precisely the place where Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla declared the independence of Mexico. (It was not celebrated in El zócalo because of the political situation my country is in)
Fox, walked together with his bodyguards, through the beautiful streets of Guanajuato. Although it was pouring down, He went on walking without any umbrella. His final destination was la Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores.
Right after Fox finished saying: Viva México, he rang the bells of the parroquia, for three or four times, and then beautiful fireworks were seen in the sky.
Many delicious and proudly 100% Mexican dishes and appetizers are eaten by all mexicans this holiday; such as: Pozole, Mole, Pancita, Pambazos, Tostadas, Quesadillas, Sopes, Guaraches, (Garnachas, in deed) The greasiest but at the same time most delicious food in the world. (he he) I ate two huge bowls of delicuous pozole, made by my mom. It was grate. And saw the ceremony on t.v. because my family is kind of boring and old for those crowds.
....I must say that there was a moment while watching the ceremony, that I felt Proud to be Mexican. I remembered important and special mexican friend of mine, who are faaaaaarrrrrrr away from here, and I felt them close to me, because this date is important for every single mexican, specially if he is away. And I know those nice friends celebrated in certain way this date, no matter the distance.

México or Méjico?????????

I was reading in wikipedia some information regarding my country; México, and I saw the origin of the name. I found it interesting, specially because I had never questioned myself why is that we use X, instead of J, if it is pronunced with the sound of the J.....
It is believed that the name Mexi, was derived from the word Mexitli, that was a war god, whose name was derived from Metztli; that means Moon. and the word co; means place.
From this information México means: "the place of Mextli´s people near the nopal cactus"
But then when we were conquered by the spanish, there were of course many things that were changed, or in the majority of the cases imposed, such as religion, customs....., etc, and of course the language.
Many things were involved. We used to pronunce the X as the J. That´s why there are still a few words that are written with X; eg: Ximena instead of Jimena.
Although the word Méjico exists , the official and corrected spelling is México

This is my heart ( cocoro, in japanese, corazón, en español), it´s beautiful, passionate, loyal, memorable, exciting and healthy.....

There are tiny, small, big and huge spaces for the special people I have met through my life, in it. Some tiny spaces grow up,

some others remind the same size

while some others shrink.

But none of them dissapear; maybe they are not any longer fed, but they are there.

I hope to find many special people on my way, and set a space (tiny, small, big or huge) in my cocoro that those special people can conquer.

Well, well, Yesterday was a nice day, I was busy the complete morning (as usual, every sunday) and in the afternoon I went to the movies with Ale. We arrived there just in time to see the movie. It had started 5 minutes before we bought the tickets. This time we did not have to flip a coin in order to the decide either watching one or another movie.
We saw Efectos Secundarios, a good (in my opinion) mexican movie. It talks about people´s life turning 30 years old.
To me it was quite good, specially the last scene; there is a final reflection that concludes the central subjetc of the movie. I liked so much that I want to show it here:

En el fondo no hay nada que hacer. Siempre tendrás dieciocho, pero eres joven sólo una vez, pero inmaduro para siempre.
No hay instrucciones para cumplir treinta. Pero si las hubiera, serían estas:

-Arranca el coche un día y no pares hasta que se acabe la gasolina.
-Empieza un grupo de rock. toma clases de baile. Aprende italiano. Inventate otro nombre. usa una bicicleta.
-Perdona, Olvida, deja ir.
-Decide quien es imprescindible. mientras más grande eres, más difícil es hacer amigos de verdad, y más necesitas quien sepa quien eres realmente sin que tengas que explicarselo. Esos son los amigos, cuídalos y mantenlos cerca.
-Aprende a que no vas a aprender nada. Pero no hay examen final en esta escuela. Ni calificaciones, ni graduación, ni reunión de exalumnos; gracias a Dios. Felices 30 viejo. bienvenido al resto de tu vida.

Karaoke

Today I wanna talk about the KARAOKE word. This word comes from the Katakana japanese writing system. And it is derived from two different words; Karano (empty) and Okesutra (orquestra).

Now a days there are some more terms for the word karaoke, for example: Gian, or simply K.

The karaoke machine was invented by the talented singer Daisuke Inoe (born in Osaka in 1940) He used to sing at Utagoe Kissas (coffee shops) and suddenly he came up with the idea of creating the first karaoke machine. He invented it but never patented it; ( otherwise he would definitely have become one of the richest men in the world.....) He was even awarded by the Ig Novel Prize; ( that is parody of the Nobel Prizes) at the university of Harvad. These prizes are given for discoveries that can not or should not be reproduced. The comittee awarded him for: providing an entirly new way for people to learn to tolerate each other.

The popularity of the karaoke has increased, and has spread to different items such as cell phones, video games. In video games the singer-player gets a score based on his pitch, rythim, timing, etc.

A famous movie that depicted the activity of singing karaoke is My best friend weeding, with the song I say a little pray for you. Many copies of the soundtrack were sold over the world, becoming even more famous than the movie itself.

.... I have been just once at a karaoke bar ( Weeeelll more than a bar it was a cantina) , this was in Barra de Navidad Jalisco, many years ago. I went with my parents, and some cousins of mine. And what I remeber the most, is a totally drunk guy comming from the toilet, who suddenly fell down hitting himslef seriously bad, and also remember I girl singing Hacer el amor con otro from Alejandra Guzman, while another drunk guy was rudely shouting at her to shit up......

That was the first experience I had at a Karaoke Cantina. Now after knowing some more about the word Karaoke, I feel like singing some karaoke with my friends.

Doraemon

In a previos post I talked a bout a japanese movie. I briefly described the story, and also added that it had been the funniest japanese movie I had seen.
And today while I was reading a blog, I discovered that this movie I saw a few weeks ago, is in fact a quite famous manga in japan.
The child I remembered as Shanto, is actually Novita Noby. I child who gets in trouble all the time, but he is helped by DORAEMON ( a robot from a distant future that was sent by Novita´s descents to help him out to fix the problems he is usually in) Doraemon is supposedly a blue cat (neko in japanese) with no ears, because they were eaten by rats (can you imagine that????). He has a dimensional pocket which has all gadgets, tools, things, technology, etc that you can imagine. (As far as I remember he had a camera in the pocket). And he uses them to create something that can solve Novita´s troubles.
Doraemon has a sister; Dorami she is yellow and has ears, but she does not live with doraemon, she lives in the outer space, in the future.
This famous manga was created by Fujimoto Hirushi, it´s first episode was shown on December 1st 1969.
Doraemon is in japan, what Mickey Mouse is in occident.
I am glad to find out that once again I saw something that ended up being something quite famous. (as the talented guy I saw in London)
